Coaching Basketball

Welcome to HBA 907: Coaching Basketball. This class is an online class.  This page gives you information on accessing all of the course materials. 

Follow these steps to access the course materials and the course: DO NOT buy the class materials/textbook from any other company (such as Amazon) because you will not be given access to the online class.

NOTE: You need to purchase the textbook in order to have access to the online portion of the class. The textbook is not a part of your tuition.

1.         Go to this link: http://www.asep.com/index.cfm

            A.        You will need to create an account/register.

            B.        Click on “sign in” at the top of the page and follow the steps on the web site to register. 

2.         After you’ve logged in, go to this website: http://www.asep.com/asep_content/org/FPU.cfm

3.         Purchase the ASEP Coaching Basketball online course. To place your order, review a course description, or read about how ASEP online courses work, click the Coaching Basketball: Online Course with Print Materials link.

            A.        A new screen will open. You should make sure that Fresno Pacific University is the organization selected.  If Fresno Pacific University is selected, add the class to your cart.  This button is found on the upper right hand side of the screen.

            B.        Click the “View Cart” button at the top of the web page to purchase your items.  Please follow the directions provided on the web page to purchase your items.

4.         After you place your order, your Coaching Basketball online course package (containing the basketball text), will be mailed to you within three to five business days.

5.         Once you receive the online course package materials, you can start the course. Please email me once you have received your course materials so we can establish communication.   Please follow the directions mailed to you to access the course.

To complete this course you will need to complete the following tasks:

1.         All of the online units/chapters

2.         Online final examination

3.         Analyzing free throws

4.         Questioning strategies

5.         Evaluation of offensive and defensive tactical skills

6.         Evaluate team situation

7.         2 practice plans

8.         Letter and agenda

9.         One scouting tool

Assignments #3 – 9 are not included in the online portion of the class.  These assignments will need to be turned into me as an email attachment.  I will be able to view your score on the online examination.  You will need to use Microsoft Word in order to send me all of your assignments via email.  Feel free to contact me whenever you have questions about assignments but please send me all completed assignments at the same time for grading and feedback.  Send to [email protected]   More detailed information is provided in the course syllabus that is attached.

1.         After you have read this email, so that I know that you have received this information.

2.         Following the self-study for the examination.

3.         Complete assignment #3.

4.         Complete all assignments.  Please send me your completed assignments and your Grade Form, which I will complete and turn it to the registrar’s office.

I have attached Fresno Pacific University’s Independent Studies Policies and Procedures that describe items such as ordering transcripts, dropping classes, and other important items.  Go to http://www.fresno.edu/cpd/forms/ in order to download the

Grade Form that you’ll need to complete and send in after you have completed all of the course assignments.  You will need to fax the Grade Form to 559-453-2005.  I will need this form in order to post your grade with the Registrar.  This site will also allow you to download a Course Extension request form, if you should need it.
